It’s something I have never really thought about, the challenges if I were in an unsafe environment. I’m glad you carry some protection on you. Stay safe friend πŸ’•

You know what would be cool if you could install a knife in your boot activated by a button on the side of the boot. They would never see that coming.

Oh, that's a beautiful thought. I could muster up one more Kill Bill high kick in my life if it meant stabbing an attacker in the throat at Whole Foods or something. How cool would that be? Quick, get a patent. You'll be rich!

Thank you for the restack! 🩷

I just recently had my first baby and he is currently 3 weeks old. I have never felt more vulnerable walking than I have in the last 9 months with him because I know I couldn’t run away and defending myself would be much harder when I am carrying him, in my arms now or inside before. It is psychologically different.

I totally can empathize with how terrifying that feeling is. Thanks for bringing it to my attention that those with disabilities may feel that way all the time. 🫢

Yes! God, motherhood is it's own brand of all kinds of vulnerability, isn't it? It's wonderful, but terrifying. My oldest daughter has said she doesn't want kids because she never wants to love anything the way I love her. She says it's too scary. 🀣 She's not wrong.

It’s both beautiful and hard! Love can feel so risky at times.

You make excellent points here, Shelly. I'm glad you escaped that situation physically unscathed , but the emotions that linger are no less important. I don't carry weapons of any kind. After reading your post, I wonder if perhaps I should.

They say a weapon is more likely to be used against you, so I don't know that there is a right answer. We're kind of screwed either way as women, aren't we? What would be really nice is if men would stop hurting us, but that seems to be too much to ask.

Let’s keep asking. Meanwhile, as best as we’re able on any given day, we walk with confidence and dignity. πŸ’œ
